More than a quarter of Americans have chronic pain symptoms lasting for months or years, and over half of these adults do not feel their pain is well-controlled. Chronic pain affects us on many levels, including the physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual, and even the social. The rich tradition of yoga addresses each level, making it an especially effective approach to working with pain. Offering the latest evidence-based interventions from the field of yoga therapy, this workshop will radically expand your ability to manage chronic pain.

By attending this workshop you will:

•    Understand what pain is and how the central nervous system responds to chronic pain
•    Understand the current science in yoga and how it impacts each layer of our being
•    Understand how lifestyle habits can influence the pain experience
•    Learn how yoga can affect our relationship with our body and chronic pain
•    Learn simple tools for pain management and self-care
•    Develop new ways to relate to the thoughts, emotions, and beliefs that are part of the pain experience
•    Experience a practice designed to desensitize the central nervous system through asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques
